WOES OF LIFE
My environment dictates dismal
I look for good, evil came
I waited so long for light, darkness came
My heart blinks and my head is never still
My soul is poured out
For days of affliction have taken hold of me.
I had no rest, when shall I be in peace?
The night racks my bones
The day take the rest of the pain that gnaws
Like dust and ashesvI move
I stand to cry for help that yielded sore
I thirst for peaceful peace in life
I have done to the poor, good.
I delivered the fatherless when hope lost
I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy
Justice I tendered for the littles ones.
Who will save my situation?
Through me, the deaf heard. I was eyes to the blind.
My skin falls from me
My strong bones that wax burn with heat within.
My melody harp turns to mourning
My flute makes sound of weeping
For all that I made yet I found no rescue.
What then shall I do?
How long I wonder in a pathless wilderness.
These are the woes of life
A child is born today, tomorrow full of trouble
Like a flower he comes and fades away
Man! be of good cheer
God has overcome the world
In Him dwells peace, joy and life.
